Overall Info
Aikido is a defensive martial art where the force of an attack is controlled and diffused without injury to either instigator or defender. This is achieved by using avoidance and balance breaking followed, if necessary, by techniques including a range of locks and throws.
Aikido techniques are frequently taught to and used by police, military & security forces as they are effective in immobilising & disarming opponents. Aikido is closely related to Jujutso, Judo & Kendo.
The Worthing Shodokan Aikido Club is a friendly club with a mixture of men and women of all ages and ability.
Our club covers all aspects of Aikido training; kihon (basics), kata (pre-arranged paired forms), randori (sports practice) plus applied Aikikdo & Japanese traditional weapons practice (tanto, bokken, jo).
